Corgi Rescue

While it’s hard to imagine that any Corgi would be left abandoned or homeless, unfortunately, this is a common occurrence in our area. In some cases, owners are forced to give up their dogs and do not wish to see them put into a shelter situation.

Many of the stories of dogs taken in and placed are quite heartwarming; however, not all rescue stories have a happy ending. The dogs in rescue are not those bred by responsible, reputable breeders. They are those purchased from “casual” breeders, or pet shops, who generally make no provisions for owners to return the dogs if the dog has genetic physical or behavioral problems, or if the owner simply cannot keep them. In fact, 60% of all dogs, any breed, turned into shelters fit this same description. This is why we feel it is very important, when looking for a Corgi, to find a reputable breeder who will take full responsibility for any dog they produce, and require spay/neuter contracts on all puppies placed as pets.
